A SURPRISE VISIT!

TWO WONDERFUL POSTS TODAY!! We had a surprise visit from Sister blogger, Sweet Marydon from Blushing Rose and her husband Harold!!  I couldn't have been happier!!  Although they could not stay very long as they were following a schedule, we had a wonderful visit!  Marydon is just what I expected from our long friendship through blogging and e-mailing.  Two kindred spirits!!  Hubby took pictures and I did, too!  Our daughter Barbara was at home and enjoyed all of our gaiety and laughter!  Thank you so much Marydon and Harold for a wonderful bright spot in our day and lives!  Below recorded for my memoirs are the photos:
Bill showing Marydon the quilt he made when first diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma.

Lovely Marydon and me, kindred spirits.  We both were wearing gold hoop earrings-ha!  She must be a long lost sister!!

She came bearing gifts and I got to choose a wonderful ornament with a teapot in the center of sparkles and pink ribbon!

We are checking out items on my window ledge over the sink, a picture of Bill and me when dating in an Apple frame.
Here we are in the den where my and my daughter's computers are...where we view the lake and all the wildlife.
And here I am getting teased about being so short-ha!
And then we had to say goodbye although I could have done with a much longer time-ha!  Good people, good times!  We built memories today of Osprey and a wonderful visit from Marydon, THANK YOU!!!
Be sure to visit Marydon at Blushing Rose http://blushingrosetoo.blogspot.com/ Have a wonderful day dear friends, I did!!

AN OSPREY MORNING!

THIS MORNING'S VISITOR WAS AN OSPREY!!

I could not believe my eyes!  The Osprey was huge!!  The neighbor was ringing my doorbell and I was still in my jammies.  She knows our love for birds and said, "I thought you might like to see the Eagle".  I went out on the porch and across the road in a very tall Maple near their house was the Osprey perched in the top!!  I grabbed 2 cameras, gave one to my daughter and these are the pics she was able to take!
As he or she flew away, the tiniest little bird went chasing after-ha!  I was glad to go to the door in my jammies, it was worth it!  I took 3 pics also. Mine did not come out at all.  The sky was overcast and my camera picked up too much light.  The pictures were blurry and had lines across them.  Thank goodness I grabbed Hubby's camera for my daughter.  He slept through all this and loved the pictures when we showed him.  Gotta love Nature and God's creatures!!
The second wonderful thing today is that Marydon from Blushing Rose is coming to see me, in person!  It is a surprise visit and they will arrive later this afternoon.  I am so excited!!

I need an Ark!

Yes friends, it is still raining here!  Last night there was a beautiful sunset though and I ran around looking for a rainbow but couldn't find one.

It was just so beautiful, a huge glow over everything!  The little Lake overflowing its banks now made a beautiful reflection!

The view from my den window is what caught my eye and then I had to go outside to enjoy the too short spendor of the sinking sun in red-orange sky.  A perfect ending to the raining day!
Thanks for visiting and come again soon!

Pop over to my TWO HAPPY BLOG in a few minutes as I am going there to post some more asked for recipes.

AND THE RAIN CONTINUES!!!

The rain continues, shall we build an ark??  The backyard critters care not a whit for the falling rain but go on about their business of living.  A lesson here?  Though gray clouds gather and raindrops fall, we know the sun will follow~so we continue on...

Can you find the Cardinal in our pear tree?? The fall colors are starting to show and she blends right in!
Though raindrops are still falling, these unlikely friends are sharing the old fishing hole...

Egret and Swan

Two's company, three is a parade!  The Swan couple have been in the lake all night and morning and then the Egret flew in and was fishing in the favorite spot for everyone!  Under those low hanging branches on the opposite bank is where the Otter couple slip in and out.

So it's not Blue Monday, Is it?  Just looking at all the critters gladdens my heart and makes me smile.  Even this House Wren who likes to drink from the Hummingbird feeder-ha!
She puffs herself up in the rain and drinks.  The second shot though not clear shows her flying away....

Thanks for visiting today and I hope I cheered your Monday!  Have a wonderful week!  For a Hearty Chicken Stew Recipe, go to my TWO HAPPY blog at http://beaver-kerrie.blogspot.com/

LAZY, RAINY TURTLE SUNDAY

GOOD MORNIN'! We are getting a much needed downpour that does not bother any of our wildlife!  An Egret was fishing along the bank on the other side of the lake and a big ol' turtle was following quite fast a yard or so behind him!  Such fun to watch!

Turtle was still following, maybe he is hoping for a morsel?
The swans are so graceful even in the pouring rain and they flatten all of their feathers and pack them together tight repelling the most amount of water.

The Good Lord Gave Us Rain

The Good Lord gave us rain
to quench the thirsty earth.
And a bit of rolling thunder
Just to remind us of His worth.

And I always enjoy the raindrops
'Cause they make the sun so sweet!
Raindrops are splashing on the little pond
But all the critters are hanging round.

'Cause God gave turtles a hard shell
And Swans and Egret's feathers,
That serve them well
As the rain runs off their lovely backs.

BEST BACKYARD PICTURES!!

Last night we looked at the Harvest Moon with Jupiter being a tiny bright star underneath!  It was amazing how much I could see with just our binoculars rather than the telescope!  Pictures are posted on our TWO HAPPY site.
Yesterday was a great picture day with Hubby capturing a Great Blue Heron, the Squirrel at watch again, a Young Cardinal, etc.

This one is my favorite of the squirrel sharing the ground seeds with a beautiful dove!

You can just make out the starting of red feathers on this young cardinal.  It may be a female and if it is, it will not get much more color.

And this picture of the squirrel peeking over the pond at the doves is so much better than mine was as his camera is a much better model!  This little guy is a hoot and we never know what he will be doing next.

Here is some of Hubby's handiwork from his shed shop!  I love these entwining giraffes!  They are only 3" tall and 2 inches wide.  It always amazes me how he still has a steady enough hand to cut these small items out on the scroll saw!  To see more, hop over to Kerrie's Krafts 3 site and check out all of our creations!
Don't you just love Fall and all the vibrant colors?  When I got up this morning it was only 66 degrees outside and right now it is sunny, breezy and 86--gotta love that!
Thank you for visiting and do come again soon!  We love your comments so please leave some for us, you make our day!

Backyard Wildlife

Finally got the photo stick from hubby's camera and he did get some blurry pictures of the Otters.
Here you can make out their heads above water in the middle and to the right of the picture.  Later, he caught one running back among the trees on the bank.
You can barely see his long pointy tail as he disappears into the brush!
Here are pictures of the turtle hanging out on an old log.

And Last but not least our favorite photo subject, the Squirrel buddy.

I love this picture of the squirrel resting on a branch.  I think he likes all the attention of photographing him.  Ha!
It is a beautiful sunny, windy Monday!  Temps got up to 90 this afternoon but the breeze keeps it comfy.  Hope you are having a good start of the week.
Thanks for dropping by as always and come again soon.

ISAIAH 40:31

"They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles."
This has always been my most favorite Bible verse!  My dearest friend from back in my hometown church in Auburn, NY is now in her 80's.  She once told me she had no craft or art ability but what she was able to do was caligraphy.  Knowing this was my favorite verse, she made this beautiful framed verse in Caligraphy for me.  I have had in the my bedroom for many many years now and I treasure it always!  Esther is an outstanding friend, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and most of all Christian.  She also writes poetry.  I pray that she will have many more years to grace her family and friends with her love and smile.

All who have eyes to see and ears to hear, sing praises to the Lord who giveth us all the beautiful creatures in the world and all the beauty that occurs...

A beautiful little Carolina Wren in a feeder on our shed.

And every winged creature is a testimony to your greatness (dragonfly on Lantana in the back yard.)

We never tire of your beautiful creations like this Water Lily in our tiny decorative pond.  A Large frog who took up residence here, laid eggs and now the little pond is full of polywogs!
Thank you God for all the beauty you provide, all the pleasures that we enjoy and for sending special people to our lives.  We are truly grateful!
HAVE A BLESSED SUNDAY!

Awesome Otter Morning...

This morning we woke to find two otters swimming in the little lake!  Much too fast for us to get pictures, they played and dove the length of the Lake, it was a hoot!  We will try to get pictures if they return tomorrow!  Meantime, I did get some pictures of 21 returning wild Canadian Geese who always winter here in SC.  The land and lakes that are in this Community provided a natural nesting area for the Geese, Egrets, Herons, Swans and more.  So we are blessed with them most of the year raising their young and always returning.  We have also had Raccoons and a destructive Beaver who ate our trees-ha!  We feel so fortunate that we are allowed to see such a variety of wildlife in our own back yard!

Hubby on the opposite shore taking pictures of Geese while he was tracking the Otters. Too funny!
We enjoy our yard so much all year long.

I am working on Fall and Christmas projects for my Etsy Shop and for gifts now.  The cooler weather is more conducive to craft productivity.  I also have my quilts to finish.  My list is endless and my housework suffers for it-ha!

Here is a bookplate I made for you to copy and print.   I love that she is holding what seems to be a diary?  Or a Bible.  I found this beautiful picture on "The Graphics Fairy" site.  She has absolutely wonderful graphics and they are all free for your use.
