January Critters

What a beautiful Saturday in SC!  Chilly but warm in the sun.  This morning I am joining Pink Saturday again over at Beverly's at http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com

At the bottom of her post will be thumbnails of others that have posted and you can also add your blog pictures if you like.

My flowers are still blooming in the Pedestal planter.

There are Marigolds, Vinca Vine, Petunia, and a sprig of Asparagus Fern still blooming!

I love the lone Vinca blossom in periwinkle blue next to the pink Petunia.

And the Camellia Bush is still loaded with buds, and the fallen petals make a carpet underneath...

the fowl are all here to breed again and my visitors all day today were a Mallard Couple, Canadian Geese and a Lone female Merganser.  I love them all.
I love the sun hitting his back
 So beautiful!
Female Mallard. This couple comes every year.

Here is the male Mallard preening...

And here is the lone female Merganser.  Very unusual to find her without a mate.  She dives for great distances under water to search for food.  So much fun to watch!
She is so pretty.

Thank you so much for joining me for Pink Saturday and do come again soon!

January doldrums - NOT!

Ways to cheer yourself up during the winter months. Dress up your table even when no one is there with luncheon plates with tulips and glasses to match.....

crocheted flower napkin rings...

And hand made felt coasters
in bright colors.
Each time I walk through the kitchen
it cheers my heart.  Next I am going to
put teacups and saucers on the table and
add a pastel table runner down the middle.

Draw something with bright jell pens.  Can't draw?  Trace something and then color in, such fun.

I drew mine from a photo and just made up the small branch.
Relax like Isabella in a sunspot....

Buy a Kindle or Nook.  The smallest Kindle Paperwhite is both afordable and so portable with many sources for free books you can download right on line!  I have the Kindle Paperwhite and am currently reading a Cary Grant bio.
Take walks and don't forget your camera.  Take pictures of everything you find interesting and then weed out the bad ones in your photo program and then share with your friends on Face Book or other social networks.  You can start your own blog for free at www.blogspot.com.
Depression got you down?  Get busy, volunteer, check on neighbors who may appreciate a visit, join a hospital auxiliary.  Go to a book store and have coffee while you browse.  Getting out and exercising is very important in fighting depression in the long winter months.
Adopt a pet, a rescue cat or dog.  That is where I got Lilly, my Chihuahua.  So much company when I am alone.  I love playing with her, she makes me laugh out loud!
Here are my sweet babies chilling out in the den.  They both were rescues.

Thank you for visiting and come again soon!

Winter Pink

Joining Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for Pink Saturday 2013!
The Christmas Cactus is on my backporch and this morning it was only 30 degrees when I took this photo.  I have no room to bring plants inside so I cover them with plastic drop cloths and hope for the best.

We had a "killing frost" last night here in SC but in my neighbor's yard, there blooms a Winter Rose still blooming with melting frost droplets on its petals...

I love roses and delight in seeing them in January!  My own Candy Striped Rose just stopped blooming but then the Camellia bush that is also a Winter bloomer, is loaded with blossoms.

Thank you for visiting today and come again soon.  When you have time, visit my other blogs listed in the sidebar.

Good night and Good bye to 2012....

♫♫Should old acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind...♫♫

I said goodbye to 2012 and it was not a good year for me.  All first holidays without my beloved Bill, it sure was hard to get through...  And ringing the New year in, I did not even watch on TV, no Bill to give a kiss at midnight so I tried not to think of it.
I worked yesterday first time since October and was so happy for the business of the day.  Today is a brand new day in a brand new year and I am looking forward to a great granddaughter due the day after Bill's passing January on the 27th. God replacing sadness with JOY!  Bill would have been so happy!!

Many others have had to deal with loss and depression this last year and I am praying for all and wishing them great blessings in 2013.  Many good things have happened in my life on the 13th of the month so maybe there will be many good things to happen in a whole year of "13" LOL!  My Dad was born on December 13, 1907 on a Friday so I have never been superstitious. :)

MAY YOU ALL BE BLESSED IN THIS NEW YEAR AND MAY OUR NATION HAVE PEACE AND RETURN TO ONE NATION UNDER GOD.
