Remove the "HATE MODE"

I will not rehash the recent Casey Anthony Trial results.  But briefly, I see so much hate going on at Face Book, on the news,  and elsewhere that it is frightening.
Briefly, the public needs to remove themselves from the "hate mode" as I see it.  Be assured that Casey Anthony will not go unpunished as her very lifestyle places her in jeopardy.  She will come to no good end.
The Bible tells us to pray for our enemies.  That is because what God has in store for them is much worse than we could EVER wish them.  I have personally seen this truth in my lifetime in several situations.  Believe it!  So why expend your time and energy wishing Casey ill will?  You cannot change a single thing by your anger, you only please the devil.
Instead we pray for that precious little Caylee, who is now with our Father in heaven and knowing boundless love in His arms!
Thank you.

A Little Angel abides with Love
In the arms of our Father up above
She feels no pain she knew before
When the earth she left
She opened Heaven's door.
A tear is dropped on every cheek
At the taking of a life so sweet ~
But smile, SHE IS IN HEAVEN.

Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord. On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head." Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good (Romans 12:17-21).

A trip to the Beach and Poetry...

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY EVERYONE!

We took a trip to Huntington
Beach State Park this afternoon.  For more pictures, please go to our TWO HAPPY blog site where I have posted some very colorful ones.  Hubby had been in the house so much except for doc appointments and it was so good for us both to escape for awhile.  While there we took pictures and I wrote a poem...

Huntington Beach 5/30/2011
      by Kerrie O'Hearn Marquart

Under a sprawling Cedar tree
We found a place for us to be
In shade and fragrance we abide
While relishing nature on every side.
The Brown Pelicans overhead as they glide
   Just above the gentle waves...

We sat here 21 yrs. ago
The day before Hurricane Hugo.
I was crocheting under the trees
And you took pictures while
    enjoying the breeze
And we had no idea the storm
....was brewing over the sea!

But here we are again today
Almost in the same old place
And I love you even more
As I gaze upon your weathered face
And I think how blessed we both are
to be in this beautiful place.

Continuing SC Winter Days...

Good Morning! The drabness of the winter inspires more poetry here-ha!  It seems I have to share what is in my heart and then I feel better about the gray days that linger.  And the Cardinal still graces the old Bradford Pear branches and a Yellow Throated Vireo is visiting the feeder every day!

I was able to get this shot of the female Cardinal yesterday!
Note the buds on the Bradford Pear Tree branches.  The Bradford Pear tree is a beautiful shade tree that flowers in the Spring looking like a huge bouquet of white blossoms.  It then bears tiny pear fruit no larger than a marble.  The birds love them and have something to sustain them through the winter months. They grow for the most part in a globe like shape and require very little maintenance.  Their leaves turn a brilliant red in the fall and retain their color when brought into the house indefinitely.  I keep one on my kitchen window over the sink.  These trees are very popular and are prevalent in the South.
Here is the beautiful Male.
 Another SC Winter Day...

A rain is falling softly on the lake this winter morn
And the trees are bare of their usual adorn
Save the jewel-red of a Cardinal among the branches gray
Popping a bit of color into this gray winter day.

The garden bed is sleeping with Iris toes underground
  And Shamrock is looking frail
though the leaves stay green year round.
The Pear tree has furry buds just waiting for the Spring
Bluebirds checking last year's birdhouses again
And the Robin continues the hope of spring...

The Colors of Winter

THE COLORS OF WINTER
     ©Kerrie O'Hearn Marquart

The color of the Mourning Dove
Matches the gray of the sky above,
Matches the dark earth below,
And the leaves blowing to and fro.

A Southern winter without any snow
A drab world, I am feeling kind of low.
The greenless grass, the bare trees above
But the birds still come and this I love!

Tomorrow, they say the sun will shine
I hope they are right so I won't pine
For Spring days that are yet far away
And Sunshine can brighten any day!

Thank you for the dark days, Lord
So that I appreciate the bright days more.
Thank you for the thorns as well as the Rose
They exist side by side, heaven knows...
We cannot have one without the other.
         ~January 18, 2011~

My little sketch colored with art pencils...

And then the beautiful Cardinals appear,
such a brilliant color in the the bare branches.

Though elusive and I could not get a clear picture of his beautiful face
He is still the punch of color among the winter branches.

Beauty Of Twilight

THESE PICTURES WERE TAKEN AT SUNSET LAST NIGHT AND I WAS BLESSED WITH A VISIT BY THE MALLARD COUPLE.  After pictures, I gave them some dried bread and they were happy with their twilight snack!  I like to keep them coming all winter because this same couple has been having their young here each year and they bring the new brood right up to the bird feeder to get the dropped seeds.  They trust us so much that they let us take pictures and coo and talk to the little ones.  I always look forward to that.

I love the reflections in this one!

Mr. and Mrs. Mallard are such a lovely couple!  What beauty I see in the reflection of the wispy pink clouds...

Good night burning embers of night sky,
Good night beautiful Mallards floating by.
Good night silouetted trees against sky
Good night to all the birds that fly
Silently above the clouds to find
Their roosting place that will be kind
Until the morning light.

Saturday Chores!

Vintage Print in my Wash Room

Saturday Chores
        by Kerrie

Saturday again, oh me oh my
The laundry is piled right to the sky
I don't know where it all comes from
We're just two of us but it's quite a sum!
Sort and pile, three today!
I should have done it sooner
As now I have to pay!

Into the dryer one by one
And then it's folding,
That's no fun!
And in between I write these lines,
And peer out the window at beautiful pines
With Sunlight all around me.

Again I'll vow to do some laundry mid-week
And again I will probably instead, seek
Crocheting, drawing, blogging and such
And that is how I end up with so much
 .....LAUNDRY on Saturday morn!

Have a most wonderful Day and don't forget to visit Pink Saturday posts @ http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/

GRANDDAUGHTERS AND GRANDSONS...

GRANDDAUGHTERS AND
    GRANDSONS....
    ©Kerrie O'Hearn Marquart

Granddaughters are made for loving
Grandmothers are made for hugs
Grandfathers are made for teasing
Grandsons are made to catch bugs.

Little hands were made to get dirty
Little dolls were made to hold
Little trucks were made to push
Elders were made to scold.

Little feet were made to run
Little smiles were meant to please
Little ones were made to have fun
Grandparents were made to age with ease.

Little girls grow up to be Mommies
Little boys grow up to be Dads
They all grow up to be Grandparents
If they are lucky lass and lads!

For there is no greater pleasure
Than a granddaughter or grandson
Old age's wonderful reward....
For once having loved someone.

RECIPES AND SENTIMENTS

This basket of faux fruit sits on the corner of my counter all year long.  Just to look at it makes me happy!  I added the Fall bow for this time of year.  I just love old recipes and I have a 1940's "The Lily Wallace New American Cook Book" It was given to one of my sisters back in the 50's and then given to me many years later.  The recipes are both basic and complicated, the illustrations wonderful and humorous for in the 40's it gives recipes to be served "with or without servants!!!" Don't think I need to worry about that-ha!
Today I have a simple recipe for Apple Crisp in keeping with the season, mmmm!  I can smell it now!

You definitely can tell I have used the old cookbook and this recipe many times in the last 50 yrs!

        APPLE CRISP
4 cups of sliced apples (your choice of favorite)
1/4 cup hot water
1/2 cup of butter or margerine
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
Arrange apples in a buttered baking dish (or you can use spray).  pour hot water over them. Cream butter adding flour and sugar to blend and form crumbs.  Sprinkle over the apples and bake at 400 degrees for 40-45 minutes.  Serve with ice cream or as is, Delicious! Remember that you can use substitutes for sugar (sweetener), margerine for butter, etc. to make this low calorie.  It does not change the flavor.
My Sweet hubby had treatment yesterday afternoon and all went well.  While I am sitting there with him I often write poetry, draw pictures, or plan what to post next on my blogs.  Here is one of my sentiments about the cancer journey:

   Walking the Rocky Shore

As we walk along this rocky shore
I ponder what else there is in store
For my sweet Love and me.

Battling cancer five years in,
... five long years since it began
And we still pray for a miracle.

Why bad things happen to good men?
Is never answered though we ask again and again,
And we mourn the way we were.

We trust in God and thank Him each day
For letting us be together...longer we pray
For half of me is him, together we are whole.

     NEW DAY

Love of Lord increases every bright new morn
All my faith and joy again reborn.
And if the day be gloomy
I never feel despair
For behind those dark clouds
My Savior lingers there!

Watching over all his children
No matter large or small
The goodness of our Lord
Watches over all.

What a comfort to my soul
When things of earth have taken their toll,
Knowing I can rest in His great hand!

LAZY, RAINY TURTLE SUNDAY

GOOD MORNIN'! We are getting a much needed downpour that does not bother any of our wildlife!  An Egret was fishing along the bank on the other side of the lake and a big ol' turtle was following quite fast a yard or so behind him!  Such fun to watch!

Turtle was still following, maybe he is hoping for a morsel?
The swans are so graceful even in the pouring rain and they flatten all of their feathers and pack them together tight repelling the most amount of water.

The Good Lord Gave Us Rain
 ©Kerrie O'Hearn Marquart

The Good Lord gave us rain
to quench the thirsty earth.
And a bit of rolling thunder
Just to remind us of His worth.

And I always enjoy the raindrops
'Cause they make the sun so sweet!
Raindrops are splashing on the little pond
But all the critters are hanging round.

'Cause God gave turtles a hard shell
And Swans and Egret's feathers,
That serve them well
As the rain runs off their lovely backs.

Gardinias and Butterflies...

Today we were blessed with the most beautiful Monarch Butterfly who came and perched on the Hummingbird feeder!!  He came back several times.

Such beautiful, delicate creatures!  Yesterday, my hubby picked one of our beautiful Gardenias from the bush at the side of the house.  He does not care for the pungeant aroma but still admires their beauty.  I loved it!

I had to experiment with the soft focus in my photo program and liked the way it came out.

Little gifts from thee...
                      ©Kerrie O'Hearn Marquart

A lovely flower he brought to me
And I treasured it as you can see
I put it where I spend my time
And now I see it all the time.

He always thinks of things to brighten my day
Though he is not well,  but still I pray
Every day for a miracle to come
And heal my beloved, my dearest one.

We treasure each moment given to us
And he bears his burdens without a fuss
Though pain is often his companion now
His love never ceases to overflow
And cover me....

I SEE THE MOON....

I SEE THE MOON AND THE MOON SEES ME♫♫
I JUST LOVE THE NIGHT SKY AND THIS WAS THE MOON LAST NIGHT AS THE SUN BEGAN TO SET.
I am obsessed with love for the fading sun and yet I cannot bear to see each day end!  But I look from my window and see the sky and must go outside and take more pictures of the fading light.

And because I see something in every cloud formation, I see a faint figure of Christ in this last picture in the formation of tiny puffy clouds. The shape of the crowned head is slightly to the right of center and on a tilt to the left. Perhaps only in my eyes-ha! Intriguing just the same and comforting....

On my craft site http://kerrieskrafts3.blogspot.com/ I have posted some acrylic painting on kitchen utensils, take a look!  Thanks for stopping by and come again soon!

The Fading Sun
©Kerrie O'Hearn Marquart

I cast my eyes on fading sun
I watch as all of my day is done.
And offer up a little prayer
To God the Father who dwells up there.
I thank Him for the beautiful day
For picking me up if I fall by the way.
I thank Him too, for another day with you,
My love, my life in my heart's view,
Of everything that is good....

SWEET AUGUST RAIN...

WE had a lovely summer shower this morning...
                     August Rain
        by Kerrie O'Hearn Marquart

Raindrops softly falling on thirsty summer rose,
Blades of grass are green, everywhere they grow.
A quiet peace comes over our little kingdom here
Trusting in the Lord, there is nothing that we fear.

Prayer request for my hubby who suffered a very bad Multiple Myeloma pain attack this morning.  He had resumed chemo just 2 weeks ago and it is like starting from day 1 after a 3 mos. rest to give his body a rest.  THANKS!

Mockingbirds This Morn...

These dear sweet "teen" Mockingbirds came tot he suet this morning and I just loved watching their antics.  Even though they can eat perfectly well by themselves, they still beg when the Mother comes near, fluttering their wings and opening their mouths to beg-ha!  I never get tired of watching them.

Here is one begging while his sibling feeds himself.  The mother was on the Crook above him and he is opening his mouth, expecting her to feed him.
The reflection in the water was so clear this morning.
           Mockingbird

Mama, Mama, feed me please!
Just once more, is my plea.
I know that I can do it Mom
But won't you give me some?

  I promise, I'll be grown up~
Tomorrow when I come to sup
But just for one more sunny day,
Can you still feed your babe in the same old way?

Ahhh....Summer Rain

I LOVE A SUMMER RAIN!

There is one lone tomato on the Topsy Turvey vine planter.
It has been so terrible hot that our little vegetables in back of the shed (unseen here) have suffered greatly.  And although the cucumber vine is beautiful, each new little cucumber shrivels and dies.  But at least we had our one monster one-ha!

Summer Rain

7/09/10
How I love the summer rain,
The sound of droplets on window pane,
The silver splashes upon the lake
And thirsty plants - a drink they take
And grass looks greener than before
When last I stepped outside the door.

Ah, summer rain! I love the peace,
A quiet time to write a poetry piece
Or curl up with a lovely book
With kitty in a cozy nook
And all the housework I forsook.
For a lovely summer rain!

Ever since I was a little girl I loved the rain!  I couldn't wait to don rubber boots and an umbrella to take a walk around the block.  I loved the smell of the rain on the hot sidewalk and the quietness...
In summer when it was really hot, my father let my brother and I put on bathing suits and run in the rain if there was not too much thunder and lightening.  He would tell us, "just don't touch metal" - ha!  That was the best.  We were very poor when we were small and envied our friends who went to the lake in their parent's car or had little pools in their yard.  My older sister would fill the washtub with ice cold water and we would jump in and out freezing our ankles but cooling off!  We had no car due to my father's handicap and my Mom never drove.  Once in a great while, Mama would take us on the bus to the Lake and it was such a treat!  She would let us swim or wade in the shallow, clear lake water and then we would walk around the "island" where there were miniature boat rides in a circle, a little train that ran on tracks and a midway with games.  The Park is still there on the Lake in our hometown but the games and rides are long gone.  I treasure the memories that are kept alive by my brother who writes and publishes O'Hearn's Histories in Auburn, New York.  If you are from Central New York, you must visit and stroll down memory lane with this wonderful monthly paper.  Link is: http://ohearnshistories.com/
Have a wonderful day and do come again soon!
