MY COUNTRY, 'TIS OF THEE...

FORGET-ME-NOT
9-11
YES, it is Pink Saturday but Beverly has graciously let us deviate from the norm so that we may honor all those who lost their lives to the now famous 9 11.  This is my contribution and may we as Americans never forget this assault on our precious soil.

Remembering 911
by Kerrie O'Hearn Marquart

Never before was I chilled to the bone as I was on 911.
When hate took flight and crashed with might
Into New York City's Twin Towers.

I watched in horror on the screen
As another hit the Pentagon
And yet another intended for the White House
lay smoldering in a farmer's field
Because brave Americans did not yield
To terrorists in the sky.

We pray for all the dead and mourn
For greater heroes were never born
Than the heroes of 911.

"My Country 'tis of Thee, Sweet Land of Liberty
of Thee I sing.
Long may our land be bright with freedom's
holy light,
Protect us by Thy Might
Great God, Our King!"
Amen
Let's bring God back to America!

Lovely tribute Kerrie. I think the whole world was shocked that day, I remember I was at the cemetary (It was the 3rd annivesrasry of my husbands death) when someone told me what had happened.
How any human being could be so evil is beyhound comprehention.

Will be thinking of you all tomorrow.

Amen! What a wonderful poem, Kerrie. I hope you don't mind me sharing it with my blogging buddies by directing them to your post here?

Lovely tribute - we shall NEVER forget. There's a 9-11 Prayer garden at our local park and I often go sit and ponder the lives that were lost that day.

God bless America!

Hi Kerrie, I come by way of Doris. My goodness, the things we have in common. I am a grandma and a deacon. I see you love taking pics of butterflies, as well. I just took a lot a few hours ago. Your hearder is georgous and I love your poem and the blue flowers. But here's the strange thing. My brother-in-law has been battling multiple myloma for about five years. People keep getting it confused with melanoma! He has had a stem cell transplant, with his own cells, and is now getting ready to start another one from one of his brothers. I could hardly believe it when I read about your husband, and I am so sorry to hear about this. Jacob is fairly young and had to quit his job and go on disability. Take a glance at my blog if you have time. If not, many blessings to you and your husband.

I haven't been back to NYC since that terrible event. What a lovely poem!
I hope to one day see NYC again, but it will be sad not to see the Twin Towers.

Dear Kerrie, this is a very sad memory day for USA as well as for my country, Chile. Same Sept. 11 1973 we had the militars take over our country, it was a dictatory regimen for 23 years.
cariños,
maria cecilia

Your beautiful forget me nots are a fitting tribute to the brave men and women who lost their lives that day. I still can't think about it without crying.
