View From My Window...

IT'S A RAINY DAY TODAY!  But even with the rain the view from my window is gorgeous!  The trees are at their peak now here in SC near the beach.  The rain makes the tree trunks stand out in black and the leaves on the trees look even more brilliant against a stormy sky.  My camera does not do it Justice!  The lake is low as shown by the receding bank and the rain is welcome!

The Maple tree is so brilliant yellow now but I could not capture it!  When I did more oil paintings I would have loved the dark wet trunks, the brilliant leaf colors and the stormy sky!  Perfect subjects for a fall Painting.  I have one that I did many years ago and will share it with you.

This was one of my very early oil paintings on stretched canvas that my hubby made for me.  The original was bigger and I sold it.  I did this quick little copy for myself.  I hate to part with my oil paintings and do more copies whenever I can for myself.  Another favorite is a night lake scene that I first saw on one of William Alexander's painting lessons.  I also sold the first and we missed it so much that I had to paint another, just a little different from the first for our 2nd bedroom wall.

William Alexander is a wonderful painter and his technique was unmatched.  I painted several successful oil paintings from his lessons on his TV series and from his books.  He was so enthusiastic about his paintings and really inspired me with every stroke.  His paintings of the Grand Titans are wonderful!

Wow, those paintings are lovely - I find painting very relaxing. I have to start painting more. Right now I'm focussing on getting my crocheted and knitted things done for Christmas.
I agree with you, I just love looking out my window and see nature do it's thing...my trees out front are finally starting to turn, but they still have a long way to go before they are in full color.
Nice post :-)

This comment may come to you twice because I thought I had posted one earlier.

I love fall colors too and I also have trees out front and back that turn in the autum, only they're off to a slow start and I'm still waiting...

You and your husband do a wonderful job with your paintings. I think they are very professional looking...I will try to get back to my painting. I find it very relaxing, only right now I have a lot of things to knit and crochet for Christmas.

I'm starting to feel a bit like the Miller's daughter who had to spin straw into gold, only I have to hook and twist shapes out of yarn ;-)

I remember when you painted the schoolhouse. I have always admired your artistic ability! That's why I proudly display "After the Storm" ♥

Thanks so much for your beautiful comment. I remember all your oil paintings when we would visit so long ago. All the paintings are lovely - I can still see some of them in my mind.
