Mrs. Mallard came this morning all alone!! Her spouse was not with her and I am worrying that something has happened to him as they are never apart. It has rained all day and she has been hanging out by our window and under the den roof overhang for hours. She kept fluttering her beautiful wings like a baby wanting to be fed and kept staring at the lake as if calling to him. I hope he is MIA and not a casualty!!
I was able to download the video to YouTube but had to add it above as it did not show full screen in my sidebar. This is the first time I ever attempted to film and download a video, success is mine-ha!
Other visitors from yesterday afternoon:
My daughter's favorite squirrel, the one that hangs out in the bird house when it rains-LOL!
Robin the hunter. He can find something in the ground to eat quick as can be and pulls a morsel right up!
Mocking bird loved the Suet yesterday and kept coming back for more.
And this beautiful Thrush was on the ground under the suet finding things in the soil as well. The Thrush is in the same family species as the Robin.
More Azalea's are out now and also the little Dogwood between our neighbor's side yard and ours. For pictures, go to TWO HAPPY.
Thanks for visiting and come again soon.

Red Tailed Hawks
Red Tailed Hawk in my Kitchen? Yes you are seeing right! Our friend who is a Licensed Raptor Trainer, brought the hawk so hubby could see him. Of course Hubby is taking the pictures as we did not want to take the chance of his being hurt in any way. When the immune system is compromised, you learn to be very cautious. But of course Grandma Kerrie was up for holding the hawk-ha! He was a juvenile and very well behaved which was a great surprise when we were told he had only been in captivity for a couple of weeks. (Trainers only capture injured birds or young juveniles that have lost their parents and after caring for them, they are released into the wild again. They take them out on hunting excursions so they learn to find their own food and they were returning from one of these trips when they stopped to see us.) Knowing how much we love birds and also my husband had a pet Great Horned Owl when we were dating that he hunted with back in the 1950's.
This young hawk in the picture weighed only 2 lbs. and was all feathers. Birds are very deceiving in stature as their feathers make them look large and ferocious but their bodies are really small, though muscular.
Here are some of Hubbies pictures of an Egret that was in our little lake at the edge of the yard last week.
He is so beautiful! I love his head feathers trailing back...
And this is a Mockingbird that I saw on my walk yesterday. He was most cooperative just sitting there while I snapped several pictures.
I hope you enjoyed our pictures, do come again soon to visit and don't forget to visit my other blogs, the links are in the side bar.

RE: Warning about Oriental symbols/Lichen study
Thank you for answering in comments about my warning re: e-mails with oriental symbols. THESE ARE NOT ANONYMOUS. THE SYMBOLS ARE RIGHT IN THE FROM: LINE. So they will not show up as Anonymous. You would however have to agree to POST their comment. Thank you for your response and hopefully no one else will publish them as I created the warning after seeing a huge paragraph comment from one of these on another blogger's site. When I went to Page-translate, it auto detected and showed the words in English. That is when I decided to write the warning. Together we bloggers can stop these people from using our blogs for their own gain. THANKS!
Yesterday during a gentle rain, a huge limb fell from the tree in the back yard. There was not even a breeze and it was frightening to see how large it was and we were thankful that no one was out there when it fell. Once on the ground, we were able to observe a wonderful study in Lichen on the branch. It was a fairyland of fern-like growth that is very beautiful.
I just loved the fairy-like quality of the growth and could picture tiny winged creatures sitting among them. Lichen: small flowerless plants forming crust on rocks, trees, etc.
Although there is no flower, the delicate structure and different shades of green and gray are quite beautiful.
This very wet Mockingbird thought the fallen limb was just for him as he perched and checked it out! Thank you for visiting as always and please come again soon. Have a wonderful day!Kerrie ♥

Warning about Oriental comments.....
I have just noticed that some of you are publishing comments from Oriental e-mails. Let me warn you to please turn on your page-translate as these are sexual and pornographic in nature and the link will take you to their sites. They are banking on the fact that you do not know what it says and they are using YOUR SITE to promote this distastful un-Christian material. You can block them by copying their e-mail address, then going to your message rules and down at the bottom where it says "words in the sender line" paste in their address. I did contact my e-mail provider and they are aware of this, maybe if more of us report these people, we can stop them from using our sites!!! God Bless and please tell your friends and fellow bloggers about this. Thanks!
We had a soft rain today and the wind was not even blowing. Suddenly a very large branch broke off and fell to the ground in the back yard. I was so thankful that no one was out there at the time.
This wet-from-rain Mockingbird thought it made a great new perch near the suet that was hanging above him on a crook.
Thank you so much for stopping by today and I hope you will come back soon! If you liked this post please visit my other blogs with links in the sidebar. Have a wonderful day!
