Busy, Busy...

GOOD MORNING MY FRIENDS!  I cannot believe how fast the days have been going by!  I missed you all.  I am still adjusting to being one of two. But it is getting a smidgen better every day.  I worked all last week subbing at the doctor's office so that was good getting out and earning some money.  God provides and He is so Good!


So anyway, I wanted to share some photos of another outing at Huntington Beach State Park here in Murrells Inlet, SC.  This time, my daughter took me just before sunset when the creatures are all settling in for the night, it was so beautiful.

Huntington Beach State Park is a Painter's and Photographer's heaven!  There were many photographers there that evening with tripods and super huge scopes and lens but I am sure their pictures were no better than these little digital cameras take-ha! 

 Murrells Inlet, SC is a fishing village and nationally known for it's wonderful seafood restaurants. Huntington Beach, SC is a state park and was originally owned by the Huntington's.  Mrs. Huntington was a sculptress and across the road from the park is Brookgreen Gardens where her sculptures are displayed all over acres of property and lovely gardens.  It also has a Butterfly House and a wood trail with wildlife in their natural habitat (owls, red fox, Eagles, hawks, etc.)

 It is a wonderful respite at the beach where you can forget all of your troubles and be lost in the beauty of God and nature.  On Saturday we saw Wood Storks, Egrets, Great Blue Heron, Green Heron, Alligators, Dragonflies, and breathtaking sunset scenes.

I loved snapping this of the little pier lookout over the marsh water.  The setting sun illuminates it so nicely and it makes me want to paint or sketch this :)

Clouds and reflections are some of my most favorite subjects.  Also, future paintings....

I am guessing this is Trumpet Vine that grows next to the sidewalk all along the causeway.


I sure hope you enjoyed this tour of Huntington Beach State Park and that you will one day visit this beautiful spot.  There are year round camping facilities there, also.  I am truly blessed that I am living only 10 minutes away from this paradise.  Thank you for coming and do come again soon.

Lead Muskette Balls and Blessings

On Saturday, My daughter and I went to the Blessing of the Inlet at Belin Church, Murrells Inlet, SC. While there I found 14 lead musket balls in and around the church driveways.  Whether they were there from a battle or unearthed when the driveway had stone brought in, I do not know.  But so much fun to find them.  Although they are not of any worth, their historical value makes them interesting.

The Blessing of the Inlet is an annual event and is colorful, musical and also has craft and food booths on the church property.  The day was perfect with sunshine and very warm temps.

Imagine my happy surprise when the two bagpipers who were leading the ministers to the back portico of the church stopped right in front of me and played Amazing Grace through 1 time right there!!  I was very emotional as we had wanted live bagpipes at my hubby's memorial service but our friend was out of town unavoidably so they played a CD.  My daughter took a picture of me smiling and then afterwards we both cried!!

and of course I had to have my picture taken with this Elephant as my sister loves them and collects figurines of them.  This one's for you, Mary ♥

And this is a picture of Oliver's Lodge right next to the church.  It is closed at present but rich in history.  Click on the link above and read about this 1800's first lodge in the area.  To add to the mystery, a Wedding Dress hangs in the window of the upper floor.  Photo by my daughter, Barbie.


If you visit the area, it is fun to ride around the church driveway and see the back of the lodge that is right on the marsh and imagine what tales it could tell if walls could talk....
