Spring at my house and Birthday...

HELLO, MY SWEET FRIENDS!  I returned this week after a week back in our hometown for a memorial service there for my hubby.  There is nothing like old friends and the love of relatives to comfort your loss.  The service was beautiful with our granddaughters, daughter-in-law, and myself reading tributes as well as friends and church members sharing their memories.  Our special song, "Devoted to You" by the Everly Brothers was also played at the service just as it was at the service here.  The ladies of the church provided a wonderful luncheon for us following the service and I cannot thank them and the pastor enough for making everything so special for all of us.

As you can imagine, I was happy to return home and I had a nice surprise awaiting me with the yard filled with wonderful Azalea blooms!!  And the Great Blue Heron visiting to fish.
Isn't he wonderful?

He takes time to preen his feathers while standing in the sun.

Pictures never show the enormity of size.  The Great Blue Heron's are so stately and tall!

And today is my 70th Birthday!  We celebrated last night with daughters, mates and grandchildren with Pizza and cake with candles that would not blow out!!
It was fun and I don't feel a day over 69and 11/12ths-LOL!  I am now officially in the Antique category.
My best surprise was the Pendant with my hubby's print on it came in time for my birthday!  I love it and can hold it anytime I want and be touching his thumbprint. :)  God is sooooo good!

Thank you for visiting and come again soon.  If you have time, slip over to TWO HAPPY blog to see more of the Azaleas for Pink Saturday and to see the pendant.
My heart to yours...

Happy Birthday, Kerrie!
That thumb print pendant sounds like a lovely gift. Was that something Bill ordered for you while he was still alive? I never heard of such a thing, but I will remember it... I'm so glad the Memorial Service for your husband was so nice with your being surrounded by family and friends. I can imagine their support being comforting to you vs. being all alone in your grief. You are blessed! You look lovely! Just don't tell anyone you're 70, you are 69 and holding ;-) Thanks for the wonderful Heron photos - yes indeed, they are rather large birds. Life marches on with or without us and it's important to rejoice in it while you are here and I know you and Bill have always lived by that motto which has left you with many, wonderful memories to cherish.
With Love,
Your friend Doris (((hugs)))

Happy Birthday Kerrie, pleased the memorial service went ok. I have been to Spain to see my youngest son.

You certainly don't look your age, and I loved the pics.

Have a grand week-end. and take care.

Hi Kerrie, Happy Birthday. I am so glad the memorial was a good experience. You are right, the love of family and friends is a blessing beyond words. The gift of the pendant is wonderful. A lovely reminder in such a special way.

When we lived in Fl the Herons were all around us. We loved them too.

Happy days to you and yours.
Hugs, Jeanne

What lovely way to give your old friends a chance to say goodbye to their friend Bill. After 23 years of keeping in touch they would feel his loss too. Your pendant must be a great comfort to you.
Many Happy Returns of your birthday. You are looking well, I hope you will continue so. I must say your Azaleas are doing beautifully and I laughed at your comment re the heron visiting the fish. I bet they weren't pleased to see him.

You look fabulous.......and are a poster CHILD for how amazing 70 can be!! The closer I get to that number, the younger it sounds! :)
