NOTHING BUT CRANES!

We are so blessed living where we can see so many tropical birds and creatures right in our own back yard.  We have seen everything from Great Blue Heron, Snowy Egret and Greater Egrets to Wood Storks.  We get all the more common visitors of birds, Beavers, Raccoons, and even Red Fox and Coyote's!  I took these pictures of the Great Blue Heron in the pine trees across the lake a couple of weeks ago.  I did run outside to take these but others were taken right from my den window.

And these great pictures were taken by Hubby last week when the Great Blue was visiting along the shore, sunning and preening. 

And can you tell that Hubby's camera is better than mine?? Ha!  I get so excited when I see his pictures!

This is my favorite of the Egret, you can even see the yellow of his eye!  I tell myself that I am going to use them for reference when I paint-ha!  But I never seem to make the time to paint any longer.  Someday....

Warning about Oriental comments.....

I have just noticed that some of you are publishing comments from Oriental e-mails.  Let me warn you to please turn on your page-translate as these are sexual and pornographic in nature and the link will take you to their sites.  They are banking on the fact that you do not know what it says and they are using YOUR SITE to promote this distastful un-Christian material.  You can block them by copying their e-mail address, then going to your message rules and down at the bottom where it says "words in the sender line" paste in their address.  I did contact my e-mail provider and they are aware of this, maybe if more of us report these people, we can stop them from using our sites!!!  God Bless and please tell your friends and fellow bloggers about this.  Thanks!

  We had a soft rain today and the wind was not even blowing.  Suddenly a very large branch broke off and fell to the ground in the back yard.  I was so thankful that no one was out there at the time. 

This wet-from-rain Mockingbird thought it made a great new perch near the suet that was hanging above him on a crook.

DRAGON FLY VISIT

HOW'S THIS FOR A SATURDAY VISITOR?  A beautiful Dragonfly.

I just love this visitor!  He was approximately 3 inches in length and his wingspan was even wider!  I love the delicacy of his wings and the grace of his body lines.  Nature is so wonderful and intricate!  If we could see Fairies' wings, I am sure this is what they would look like-giggle!

Upon Fairies' wings I fly

And all the pleasures I derive

Are from floating in a gentle breeze

That carries me from lake to trees

And ever, ever upward.

Hovering over the lake, I spy

A large mouth Bass who has me

      In his eye,

But just as he decides to strike

I lift myself from his sight

On my trusty Fairy wings!
