Camping Trip at Willow Tree

Last week it rained on and off but we did not care!  We were at Willow Tree RV park Monday thru Thursday morning.  It is our favorite spot and we love it so much!!  There is a golf cart path around the entire lake.  We used to walk around it but now Bill is unable to so we rented a cart for 24 hrs. and had fun going through the woods trail, too!

Our daughter and her fiancee came two of the days and we had great fun with them ending with a fire after dark, roasting hotdogs and marshmallows.  I even played my guitar and we sang the old songs that my kids were raised on.

My daughter cried when we sang, "Dymock's Barn", a song I wrote in the 70's about a place on Skaneateles Lake, NY where we camped every year for hubby's birthday in August.  Back in those days, he never had a vacation from his work so he went to work from the little cottage we rented every day.  A lot of good memories came flowing back...

This is our little home away from home and we love it!  We bought it 2 yrs. ago when I asked hubby what he would like to do and he said he would like to go camping.  It was second hand but in great condition.  It has 2 pop out sleeping areas, a shower in the little Bathroom, stove, microwave, double sink, frig and eating area.  It is our little piece of heaven.  I learned to drive towing it cold turkey and have never had a problem.  It weighs under 3000 lbs. so we can pull it with our Chevy Equinox.  Love it!  And yes, I can even back it up-ha!  Who knew!

This brightly colored turtle was crossing our path in the woods and was obliged to stop in his tracks while we all snapped pictures.  He was quite large.
Sunset at Willow Tree is always gorgeous...

Laughing in the rain and having a sandwich.  Hubby, our daughter and her beau.
Hubby on a swing at the edge of the lake.
Farewell, Sweet Willow Tree till we camp again....

Thanks so much for visiting to share our camping trip.  Have a wonderful week ahead!

RX: Camping-take for 2 days

HI all my lovely blog friends!  We finally got away for a couple of days in the little camper that still needs a name-ha!
Getting ready for our journey to NC, we parked the camper in the driveway.  I backed it in-ha!
All set up at KOA in Sunset Beach in NC, so now hubby is chilling out!
The lake is not large but full of fish and hubby wasted no time in throwing in his line.
And the fish were cooperating nicely even if they were not too large..  The RX is working, look at that smile!
This one was pretty good size, they put up a good fight anyhow.
Next morning he was right back over on that lake-ha!
The sunsets were gorgeous as was the weather.  We slept well with windows open and enjoyed the quiet except for large pine cones dropping on the camper every now and then-ha!
The tree canopy overhead was beautiful.
All the trees were telling a story, this one I dubbed, "Octo-root"
And here is a Red Headed Woodpecker Junk Food Junkie!  He is eating a pile of Frito's that someone did not pick up from the tenting area, tsk, tsk!
There were two large clusters of Purple Martin Gourd Houses, one at each end of the lake.  I always love to see these, I think they are so pretty...Purple Martins dine almost entirely on insects and keep the mosquito population down and we see them a lot in all the campgrounds we have visited.
This great old tree was standing there like two long legs and you could see right through it, what fun!

And we have lived in the South for 22 yrs. now but I still get a thrill out of seeing cotton and Tobacco fields.  There was a tobacco field right next to the campground!
Yes and even wildflowers of orange in many clusters all along the lake bank.

The night before we left, a huge bus camper pulled up next to us and it was pulling an enclosed trailer behind it.  We assumed wrongly that it held motorcycles.  There were 3 men and one cooked 8 breasts of chicken on the grill.  They made toss salad and all came outside to eat.  I thought maybe they were hiding the women inside when I saw all those chicken breasts-LOL!  But no, they ate it all themselves.  Well, mystery solved the next morning as they brought tour bikes out of the trailer, 2 of the men in gear hopped on them and then the bus camper followed them out of the park!!  That is when we noticed a large sign on the back of the trailer that read, "Cycling from Main to Georgia".  All those chicken breasts were to give them protein for muscles while cycling!  So now I am wishing I was more inquisitive as there was definitely a story there--What kind of reporter am I anyway!!  But I only observed from my lawn chair.....
A good time was had by all, The RX for Camping really worked!!

Thanks for coming, come back again soon and do visit Beverly at How Sweet the Sound and visit all this week's participants including Me!☺

Fall at Bass Lake

Autumn is such a picturesque time of year!  And our three day camping trip to Bass Lake, SC was not a disappointment!

The reflection on the lake every morning was like glass! How we love nature in all her glory.
The first night's sunset was just so beautiful and brilliant in color!
Hubby caught several of these catfish that give a terrific fight and are fun to catch!  We always catch and release and freed him back to the lake to grow bigger.....

And of course I had to take a picture of the October Moon!  I had my new camera with me, the Pink one-ha!  And I am very pleased with the photos that I was able to get.

And last but not least, I had to have my pumpkin lites on the camper for the last night there.  It was so peaceful and my hubby Bill slept well to the sound of near by train whistles which we both enjoyed immensely.  If you want to go to a lovely wild place, stop at Bass Lake Campground in SC.  We are definitely going again on Bill's week off of treatment in a few weeks.

Thank you so much for stopping by my little Korner of the world.  I appreciate you all and love your comments!!  Come again soon.

And goodie, I get to use my Pooky's Grandma Witch cartoon that I created last Halloween!  Enjoy! Pooky's Grandma is very outspoken but very sweet and she loves everyone.  She is full of wisdom and smiles.

Reunions

HELLO!!  Last weekend was great as we attended the USS UHLMANN reunion as guests of old friends.  It was held in Mt. Pleasant, SC so we camped at Mt. Pleasant KOA, one of our favorites!  Reunions are wonderful and especially when some of the members have not seen each other for 55 years!!  Left in the pic is my sweet hubby, me, Diane and Tommy Sayles.  Tommy went to school with my hubby and they also belonged to a gymnast team at the YMCA in our hometown.
Reunions are such fun!  When you are with old friends, it is as though no time had passed and the conversation is just picking up where you left off in a comforting sort of way.  Later, Tommy moved next door to me as a teen and he and my brother joined the Navy.  Small world!
Camping at the KOA in Mt. Pleasant while there, was also a very good time.  It is one of our favorite camping sites.  We always take the site nearest the lake and the real red train caboose that is also rented out to campers.  Children just love this!

A gathering of black birds who gathered at the fire pit and postured at one another.

A beautiful butterfly on the trail.

We love this big brown bear that is carved in a tree trunk near the lake.  Hubby wants to carve something like this someday :')

And this Mama Squirrel was ever our companion...

Beautiful Orange trumpet vine we saw along the walking trail.

Thanks for visiting and do come again.  Don't forget to visit my Etsy Shop as I am putting new fall items in all the time!

Wishing Wednesday

GOOD MORNING!  My wish for Wednesday is for a miracle!  A miracle for Amy, Debbie's daughter ( http://debbie-jeremiah3017.blogspot.com/ ) Please visit the new post at this site and say a prayer.

We are getting ready to go on our weekend camping trip Starting Friday!  We are anxious to get away and relax for a couple of days following our Craft Show on Saturday.  But I never can have idle hands and will be bringing my Bible, my crocheting and my laptop-ha!  That probably does not sound like relaxing camping to you but it really is-ha!  During the day we walk, check out every plant, bird and creature that we can and are forever hunting with our camera for a new wonderful shot.  We enjoy the quiet without the sound of traffic and crowds and instead delight in the song birds and lap of the water at the edge of the lake.  Evenings are campfires with warmth and memories of other times and maybe a song or two if I remember to bring my guitar.  Don't worry, I will sing softly-ha!  The two grandchildren that live here and their parents will also be camping and their Mother, my daughter, is bringing a new soup pot so I am looking forward to the aroma of that.  I will find them by just following my nose.  Bill has not felt well since Sunday and is very fatigued but is looking forward to this little trip.  Isabella, the ragdoll does not know what she has in store but I am sure she will turn out to be a great little camper!

No Isabella, you cannot bring the remote!
Captain and Girlie will also be joining in the camping trip.  These are my daughter's babies!

WILLOW TREE RESORT, SC

Granddaughter Rose Sunset across the Lake

Muscadine Grapes were growing on the fence by the lake and I asked Rose to peak out from them. Tuesday eve my hubby and grandson were fishing until there was no more light and the lake view was just so beautiful. The sky was really unique and we had never seen one quite like it before. The peace was astounding.....
I hate to see the sun go down,
as I never want the day to cease.
But when God says, "Good Night" with such a flare
There is nothing left but glowing peace.
