♫♫CHRISTMAS TREE, O' CHRISTMAS TREE...♫♫

Good Morning Sweet Bloggers!! The season is upon us and I marvel at how fast the days go by!  My little tree has ornament overload because I cannot leave any little sentimental ornament in the box! Ha!

My Mom, my Bill, cousins and friends as well as my grown children have contributed through the years.  My favorite is the Madonna of the Poor ornament by far...

The Milkweed pod ornament was made when my children were little and it has survived many Christmases.
The little Moon Santa below is one of our own creations.  I would draw a pattern, Bill would cut it out and then I would paint it.  I have several that are very large for wall deco.

Although this is a little blurry, it is also one of my favorites, my original Santa face painted on a light bulb that is shaped like a flame.  I covered the threaded part with a bit of red plaid fabric for his hat.

This one is one I drew and then Bill had cut out of roof flashing metal!  Love it!  I miss my Bill so much and it was hard decorating without him.  So many memories!

And Last but not Least, a photo from outside when done.  It is only a 3 ft. tree but I hung just as many ornaments on it as if it were a large floor tree-ha!

And here is my little Lilly in her new doggy Christmas neckerchief that my cousin sent in the mail today.  Love it!

Thank you so much for stopping by and do check out the other Pink Saturday posts to see what others are sharing at Beverly's How Sweet the Sound!

The Sunsets in my Life...

Hi there Blog Family!!  Sunday night was the most beautiful eve to watch the sun go down.

I have been known to run into neighbor's back yards just to catch another glimpse of the sinking sun from another view!  My friend from  "LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE" understands ~because she will track down a good sunset photo op if she has to sit in her car and wait or tromp through fields, a girl after my own heart-ha!

The view from between 2 trees in the backyard.

Good Night Sun

                                 ©Kerrie O'Hearn Marquart

I dislike to have to say good night
To God's beautiful fading light
That by day warms all the hearts and fields
Then every eve it always yields,
To the darkness...

Rich warm colors cheer my soul
I scamper here and there, as is my goal
To catch each passionate last ray
Of the beautiful Sun God gave this day,
Before it fades from view.

The words to "Taps" come to mind as shadows grow long
"Day is done, gone the sun,
From the earth, from the sky, from the sea.
All is well, safely rest, God is nigh..."

When I was a little girl in 2nd or 3rd grade, my teacher chose me to sing taps at a program in the auditorium.  A six grade boy played each line of taps from the balcony on his trumpet and hesitated after each line so I could sing the words in echo from the stage.  I was frightened and shaky but the words were so inspiring and It worked out well.  Not a sound was heard from the audience.  This is one of my fondest memories..

Thank you so much for visiting today and do come again when you have time.  You can visit my other blogs by clicking the links in my sidebar.  Wishing you a most wonderful week ahead.  Never blue on Monday,

FAVORITE BLOGS

Had to share this beautiful painting by Donna at Mourning Dove Cottage!  I have known Donna as a blog sister and friend for some time now and am always amazed at her diverse interests and abilities.  She is one amazing person!  I love the antics of her dogs, "Otis and Riley" and never tire of her wonderful paintings of these two faithful friends.  Donna loves beauty and nature and her paintings, garden art, birdhouses, and magical flower and herb gardens are a testimony.  I am always refreshed after visiting and even though I have featured Donna before, I felt she was worthy of notice again.  Donna also has an Etsy on line shop (Link is in her blog) where you can purchase her wonderful creations and artwork.  Do give her a visit and tell her Kerrie sent you on over!
I just love the name of Donna's blog and need to find a suitable subtitle for mine like that!  Hmmm!  Bears a lot of thought and I don't want to strain my brain-LOL!  I love these old cards.  This one is so sweet with the children having a tea party.  I love Victorian pictures and the era, it is so romantic.
I live about 2 hrs. away from Charleston, SC and since living in the South this past 21 yrs., I have become absorbed by its history.  I used to think how romantic it was in the "old days".  We visit Charleston whenever we get a chance and we never tire of the sights and carriage rides.  On one of these, our guide was telling about the ladies literally dancing holes in their slippers at a ball and sending a servant home to fetch another pair!  It was not all romance as I had pictured it as he told us that the lifespan of women was only in the 40's and 50 yrs. due to disease, lack of medication, dying in childbirth, etc.  The men did not live much longer, either.  Nutrition was bad and if you look at uniforms from that era of the South, people were short of stature and the women mostly petite.  I cannot imagine how hot it must have been wearing the heavy cumbersome gowns in the heat of Charleston most of the year!  Still, it was romantic and beautiful as evidenced by the homes, carriage houses, cobblestone streets, elegant furnishings and gardens that can be visited to catch a glimpse of the past in this wonderfully historical place!  Everyone should visit Charleston at least once in a lifetime.
TA-TA for now sweet friends, come again soon.  I will have the kettle on and the table set in the garden for tea.....

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY BLOG FRIENDS!

Glitter Graphics

Glitter Star Graphics

Vintage picture of women sewing an American Flag.  Won't find anyone doing this now days!

I hope you are all celebrating the 4th and please be safe!  There are more accidents on the 4th than at any other holiday, especially for children.  Be very careful with fireworks and attend a safe public display rather than trying to make your own show.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!

A SURPRISE GIFT

I RECEIVED THIS WONDERFUL SURPRISE GIFT LAST SATURDAY FROM A WONDERFUL BLOGGING FRIEND SO I AM SHARING.
The beautiful silver Victorian flower holder on the left is made from a bent silver knife with a hollow handle from another silver piece forming the vase!!  I absolutely love this piece!!  I could not have received a more precious gift!  The little Hydrangia blossoms were included!  On the right is a silver fork that I have had for years and the tines are bent making an easel for my little Apple photo frame.  The picture is of hubby and myself when we were dating and I keep both of these silver beauties on the windowsill over my kitchen sink so that I can enjoy them every day! WHAT DOES HOME MEAN TO YOU?

HOME is where the swingset is.
Home is where you rock on the porch.
Home is where you were planted.
Home is where you call when you are far away.
Home is where you fly on a holiday.
Home is what our Military are fighting for!
Home to Christians is Heaven...
Home is where memories are.
Home is where children's giggles are heard...even after they are gone.
Home is where you make cocoa on a    chilly day.
HOME IS WHERE THE LOVE IS.

This is a picture of my great Grandfather Phillip O'Hearn.  I also have a pair of his reading glasses that my Dad gave to me that was his.  Funny thing is I can read with them-ha!
What does HOME mean to you?  Please comment, I would love to hear!  For more of my Home is: go to the TWO HAPPY blog at http://beaver-kerrie.blogspot.com/

My Sister Mary...

Wow!  This is my sister Mary at age Ten!  My Brother-in-law, her husband, just shared this beautiful picture with me yesterday and I was thrilled!

WHAT IS A SISTER?
                                        by Kerrie O'Hearn Marquart
Though I cannot remember
Because I was so small
I had a guardian angel
Who watched me grow and all.
Someone who stilled my fears,
And picked me up if I should fall.
Now that I remember
Because I am long grown,
I treasure my older sister,
Who to me is better known.
And we share a life of memories
A life that has too swiftly flown.
But she is still there to catch me
When I fall from stress or care
To comfort me in sadness
As my woes to her I bare
With love and Understanding
That only two sisters can share.
