Must I be thankful for the snow?
Selfishly,
It grieves me so.
Brown stalks shiver
In my flower bed
Blanketed in white-
Color of the dead.
Old joints protest
The ice and cold
Winter is not kind
When you grow old.
Must I be thankful
For the snow?
Selfishly,
I don't think so.

Esther is in her mid eighties now and does not like the cold in Central New York State where she resides. 26 yrs. ago, Esther and I were in the Bethel Bible Class together to be teachers. It was a 2-year course and very in-depth. We loved what we learned and Esther taught the class all these years at our home town church. She has been such a blessing to the church and to me as a friend. We are 20 some years apart in age but we never feel it. She has kept in touch by handwritten letters all these years and I really appreciate it. She is a bird lover as we are and has an afinity for Blue Birds as we do. So here's to you Sweet Esther wishing you a wonderful new year full of God's blessings!

How lucky you are to have such a beautiful friend. I love the poem. Friends don't come easy and you cherish those that stick around. Have a great weekend.
How wonderful that you have kept in touch, by hand-written letters, all this time!!!
