I WALKED along the beach today
And enjoyed all the evidence of yesterday
Two tracks in the sand where a stroller passed
Footprints where shell seekers amassed.
Empty shells left by the gull's repast
And tiny sea creatures washed ashore from the
ocean vast.
Litter here and litter there
Even bits of "Hugo"still in evidence here.
The elusive crab in his little retreat
Running sideways on his swift little feet.
Brown birds on the snow fence and pelicans overhead
I walk over someone else's footprints
Where earlier they have tread.
So peaceful and pleasing to the eye
The expanse of sand meeting water and sky
I love the beach, it feels like home
Whenever its welcoming shores I roam.

Yes, we are toasty warm today thanks to an honest repairman who comes out on a Sunday! He found a fan motor for our aging furnace, put it in the old housing and wah-lah, heat! We are so thankful, that was not fun when the temps outside were in the low 20's.
You must stop over at Aunt Amelia's Attic! She is so much fun and has a New Blog about aging and of course I signed right up to follow-ha! She has the greatest sense of humor and I really enjoy both of her blogs. Check it out!
Today, the ice on the pond was solid in the morning again and as I went out to do errands, I went by one of the larger lakes in our community and saw geese trying to land on the ice. They were comical as their great webbed feed skidded across the ice and surprised that they were still standing instead of floating on the water.
Thanks for coming by and commenting. Please come again soon. A cozy warm eve is wished for all the blog friends!
Yarn decor!
PLEASE GO TO TWO HAPPY to view sentiments of our 50th Anniversary coming up in Feb.

Such a lovely poem. I too love the shore. But it's been so long since we've been able to visit it.
Yes! Hooray for the good repairman and for the new fan motor and for heat!!!
Why thank you so much for asking people to stop over and see me! You are sweet. And I hope we all will find something for thought, on the new blog.
How nice to have all those lakes, nearby. Especially for a fun view of geese trying to land on ice! :-)
Gentle hugs...
That's a lovely poem and I really enjoyed it!

What a beautiful poem. There is something about the beach that I love.
Glad to hear you're staying warm.
Enjoy your day!
Hugs,

Sorry about your blower motor! It always happens on a really cold day. We had that happend to us two years ago and it was replaced but we were told they just don't make parts for our old heater any more. So last month we had a new furnace/ac installed. Hated to do it but better safe than sorry especially with this crazy weather!
Thanks for stopping by the other day!
