DISPLAY OF HOMEMADE SANTAS...

GOOD MORNING!  I am featuring our home made wooden Santa's today, enjoy!  Many of these were made long ago.

This is our floor Santa.  I designed him many years ago and my hubby cut out the form for me out of clear pine.  He made a stand for him and then I painted him.  My son-in-law Mark has always loved him and so we surprised him with one last Christmas.  He stands about 2 feet tall.

This is our moon Santa and we have been making him for a very long time.  We have given many as gifts through the years.

The one on the left is an original pattern made in the eighties.  And the one on the right is an Intarsia Santa made from a pattern by hubby.

The one on the right is a shelf version of the standing Santa with a different face.  The one on the left is one made from a pattern.  Hubby does all the cutting out and we both paint.

The sleeping shelf Santa was from a pattern with a face I created and the Raggedy Ann is our own pattern.

I really love this one and it is one featured in our yet to be published craft book as a pattern.
Hubby is a fisherman and I just had to create an Intarsia Santa.  I fashioned the vest after a real one our oldest daughter gave hubby for Christmas one year.

These are other figures we made many years ago.  I made the Gnomes from looking at the Gnome book which I love-ha!  And the jolly old man was made with a likeness to a paper doll Christmas card.

This is another one that I really love!
He is our own creation and also featured in our pattern book.  He is also an Intarsia pattern, which means that all the parts are cut out like a mosaic, glued back together and painted.  His face is my signature Santa.  I have been drawing Santa since I was a child.

And last but not least, this is an over the door or window Santa.  He was a pattern in my hubby's woodworking book but the face I created is my own.  I really like him a lot, too.  He is over our window in the den.

A GORGEOUS NIGHT SKY...

After a frosty but sunny day, we were treated to a lovely, lovely sunset!  The sun sets almost North now and I ran outside the minute the sky turned red so that I could catch the color before it faded and was gone.  I adore sunsets! 

I got the gifts wrapped today, balanced the check book and posted on my Christian blog, a good day I would say-ha!

BACKYARD WILDLIFE

While posting for Christmas, I cannot neglect to share with you are visiting wildlife in the backyard.  We have been so blessed in the last couple of weeks!  We have had visits from the Wood Stork, Woodpecker, Swans, etc.  Here are some of the pictures we have snapped in the last week or so!

I drew a sprig of holly and berries on this picture and used it to make
 Christmas Cards.

The Swan was very jealous that I was taking pictures of the stork and came from half way down the lake to assert his postiion! 

And of course Mr. and Mrs. Mallard are ever present and watching all that goes on.   She is scratching herself with her hind foot-ha!

I love this one as I tried to capture the exquisiteness of his wings as he was posturing to show his dominance.  The feathers are so beautiful and snowy white, except for their head and neck that they are constantly dunking in the water and eating the greens that grow.

 Hubby has the better camera and was able to zoom in on Mr. Stork!  I love this because you can see the greatness of his bill.

Hubby loves the reluctant Woodpecker, who hates to have his picture taken-ha!  As Bill tried to take his picture, he would hide round and round the trunk of the tree, just out of sight!  But he did finally catch him!

You can really see the detail on this adult's head in comparison to the young ones we posted a few weeks ago.  They had white feathers on their heads but the adults are mostly bald and definitely not as cute-ha!

More decorating of the House...

I am going to see if my downloading picture button is working today.

So far, so good!!  Hurray!  The above is a school picture that a made a little frame for, of my son in 2nd or 3rd grade.   I made them of all three children.

This one is my eldest daughter and the next is my youngest.  And of course they are all very much grown now with children of their own...

This picture is of a Santa that I made from a plastic jug with a styrofoam ball on top.  I will post the directions on my craft blog soon.

I really like this little tree!  I made it last year by taking a styrofoam craft tree shape and put colored common pins through one clear bead and made as many rows as I could.  I love the brightness of it and it was fun to do!

And this is my basket for the front porch step.  It has large pine cones that I picked up in our neighborhood and sprayed with a little fake snow.  I added a few old balls that were losing their color and fabric white and red pointsettias.  The basket is quite large and makes a nice accent.  I will probably start over with it next year as the items are getting very old from being on the step in the weather but the basket is very good.

I made 2 of these Santa's from felt circles, buttons and a blanket stitch around their borders.  I used real little twigs for their arms.

Haul out the Holly

Hauling out the Holly and decorating the halls!! Finally got up into the crawl space attic and brought out the boxes of decorations! Check out my TWO HAPPY blog to see more vintage ornaments all home made!

This is a Santa that I bought for Hubby one year. We collect Santa's and mostly make our own by carving and painting them from wood. I will feature all of our Santa's on my craft blog, Kerrie's Krafts 3 as soon as I can get them posted. I have been having trouble downloading my photos all day.

This is a scroll saw Cardinal ornament that my hubby made.

I have been having trouble downloading my pictures all day! Does anyone know how to remedy the problem?? Thanks!

Old Made New

My hubby loves redoing old furniture and I just love this little table with a drawer that was his last project.  Also, the lamp on it has a story.  When we moved to SC 22 years ago (Dec.) I worked at a bank.  It began in an office as a mortgage company and then became a full service bank and was moved to a beautiful new building.  They decided that they would sell the furniture from the old building.  So I asked what they would want for the beautiful lamp with the Ship on it.  They wanted 75.00 as they said it was $125.00 new.  I could not afford that at the time and sadly said no, thanks.
  While moving it to the new building because no one else would pay that much for it either, one of the teen tellers dropped it and broke it into several pieces.  It was then offered to me again, saying "If you can repair it, it's yours."  I brought it home and Hubby put the puzzle pieces of broken glass back together.  However a large crack where it was glued still showed. I bought some burgandy cord that you might use for tie backs for drapes and I made the slip knot and glued it over the crack going up the side so that it did not show.  I have had it all these years now and still love it.  It is on the table in the den between our chairs so we can both enjoy it.
   The table had a broken leg and the top was scratched.  The drawer was also missing.  But hubby restored it and made a drawer for it!  He is my hero!  I love this little table.  What have you redone lately, I would love to see.  Here are more pictures:

Today, while I was taking pictures, I put the little vintage ecru doily on the shade and just loved the way it showed with the light shining through!  Fun!
